Artist Statement

To me, abstract art is a reality born from within—a manifestation of thought, fleeting emotions, and musical melodies that serve as my ultimate inspiration. Because an artist’s work is deeply intertwined with their cultural heritage, my own practice is constantly guided by Eastern philosophy and aesthetics. I channel this heritage into my art, using the fluid rhythm of calligraphy and expressive, colorful brushstrokes to bring my inner world to life.

CV/Bio

Based in San Francisco, abstract artist Fong Fai seamlessly blends Eastern philosophy with Western contemporary art. Named one of Hong Kong's top six artists early in his career, he founded Fong's Art Gallery and taught at the Oriental Arts Institute while showcasing his work globally across Asia, Australia, and North America.

A touring exhibition through Hawaii and San Francisco inspired his permanent move to the United States, where he continues to create today. By channeling the energetic brushstrokes of Chinese calligraphy into modern abstract painting, Fong Fai gives his work a distinct Eastern essence and a boundless, expressive freedom.
